muxhes (o muxes)

Muxhe is a person who is born biologically masculine but feels a feminine identity, in an indigenous Zapotec culture in Mexico. It could be said that it's similar to the trans person but in reality has its own characteristics, given by the own culture to which he/she belongs. There may be muxhes with masculine clothing and muxhes with feminine clothing, but their construction is always from the feminine. The term comes from the 16th century, from the Spanish language, and is a derivation of the word "woman".

Muxhe is a cultural concept.
A muxhe can consider himself/herself trans or transvestite. But it doesn't have to be.
Isn't the fact that the "correct term" to DEFINE a biologically male person who feels that it's identity is female a "transsexual" is not trying to put again "rules" on gender?
Is it not - once again - an attempt to set standards for who we are and feel?

Muxhe es una persona que nace biológicamente masculina pero siente una identidad femenina, en una cultura zapoteca indígena de México. Podría decirse que es similar a la persona trans pero en realidad tiene sus propias características, dadas por la propia cultura a la que pertenece. Pueden existir muxhes con vestimenta masculina y muxhes con vestimenta femenina, pero su construcción es siempre desde lo femenino. El término viene del siglo XVI, de la lengua española, y es una derivación de la palabra “mujer”.

Una muxhe se puede considerar a sí misme trans o travesti. Pero no tiene porqué serlo.
¿Acaso el hecho de que el "término correcto" para DEFINIR a una persona biologicamente masculina pero cuya identidad es femenina sea "transexual" no es tratar de poner de nuevo "normas" al género?
¿Acaso no es -una vez más- un intento de poner normas a lo que somos y sentimos?
