Transexual

Imagen
ENG: Transsexuality is the term commonly used for a person who has undergone hormonal and surgical treatment to acquire the physical appearance of people of the sex with which they identify. Gender is a cultural issue and there are many people who do not feel that their biological sex - and the gender established at birth - corresponds to the gender with which they perceive themselves. Sex reassignment involves going through hormone replacement therapy and even in some cases surgery. But ... can you be gay or lesbian or bisexual and be trans? Well of course! But ... do all trans people carry out genital surgery and hormonal treatment? Not always, there are people like the Spanish monologist and illustrator Elsa Ruiz who has decided not to carry out certain "trans norms" such as genital surgery. She explains it superbly in the video (sorry... it's just in Spanish) I propose you a challenge. One of the advantages of having an avatar in Second Life is the possibili

Agender / Non binary gender / Agénero / Género no binario

Imagen
ENG:  Gender Queer: A Memoir, Maia Kobabe (2019) Agender has several meanings, but it is usually understood as an undefined gender identity or the declaration of having no gender or that it is neutral. Is it the same asexual and gender? Not necessarily. Asexual refers to the sexual impulse or desire. But ... you always have to have gender, right? Gender is a cultural issue. Many times we believe that everything is governed according to our behavioral parameters, however, just as there are other ways of being and feeling different from ours, there are also other ways of "classifying" genres. If you are interested in this, we recommend you take a look at this post about muxhes . Returning to gender, in Thailand there are the Kathoey, they are people identified as men at birth but who either do not feel represented by their gender (transsexuality) or who decide to have a feminized physical appearance. In the Hawaiian culture there are māhū, which are explained i

Bisexual

Imagen
ENG:  Bisexual is usually understood as romantic attraction or sexual attraction to both men and women. In other words, being a man who likes men or women indistinctly or being a woman who likes both men and women. Being bisexual is NOT being gay or lesbian. Below I leave you a link belonging to the Crazy Ex-Girlfriend TV show in which one of the characters openly declares himself bisexual, parodying some of the many stereotypes that bisexual people have to live with. Personally I would highlight this part: Being bi doesn't imply that you're A "playa" or a "slut." Sure, I like sex! Many times bisexual people have to live with the idea of them as people with an exacerbated sexual desire. S

Drag Queen / Drag King

Imagen
ENG Drag queen, Drag King or transformist is a term that describes a person who normally disguises himself in an exaggerated and cartoonish way from the other genre with various intentions, in order to point out the absurdity of gender stereotypes to the traditional roles associated with the gender that caricatures or night performance (Yannick say). Drag Queen is usually the man who disguises himself as a woman and the Drag King is the woman who disguises herself as a man. But ... Is she the same transvestite as Drag Queen? Not exactly. A transvestite and a Drag Queen usually differ in intent by what clothes of the other gender they are: a Drag normally does this as part of a show and travestite can have various motivations (if you have still doubts I highly recommend you take a look here ) Look at the two portraits below: one of them represents Chevalier d'Éon or Mademoiselle Beaumont, a politician who was in the service of Louis XV, in the other we find a famous Second Lif

lesbiana / lesbian

Imagen
ENG: Lesbian is the sexual orientation or sexual preference that a woman feels towards other people of the same sex. Below the text in the image on the left we see two naked women and despite the "innocence" of its title - The Dream, G. Courbet (1866) - in my point of view we are witnessing a lesbian sexual relationship, but perhaps not. What about you? What are we looking at?

Imagen
ENG:  Gay or homosexual is the sexual orientation or sexual preference that a person feels towards people of the same sex. Gay or homosexual can be used to also designate lesbian women. Does having relationships with a person of the same sex make me gay? It doesn't have to, that's a homosexual sexual practice. For example, you don't like doing sports, but one day you might feel like going out to do sports and you have NEVER played sports in your life: would that make you an athlete? Well, no.  With a sexual practice with someone of your same gender the same. Resignify the words? The use of certain derogatory words and insults such as "faggot" or "sissy" as a way to designate gays continues to be the subject of debate within the group itself. For some people the use of the word gay is a euphemism that hides and whitewashes an oppressed and still punished sexual preference in many contexts and countries. For example, there are mus

Cisgender / Cisgenero

Imagen
ENG: Cisgender is the term used to designate people whose gender identity matches their sexual phenotype. Interestingly, despite the fact that much of the population is likely cisgender, many people never consider themselves as such. Maybe it's because these people have never had to worry about this. They have never had to try to explain that they do not identify with the gender assigned to them at birth. Being cisgender has nothing to do with your sexual orientation. You can be gay or lesbian and be cisgender. It is highly recommended to use this term to avoid using terms that may be derogatory such as "normal". Because ... what is normality?

muxhes (o muxes)

ENG:  Muxhe is a person who is born biologically masculine but feels a feminine identity, in an indigenous Zapotec culture in Mexico. It could be said that  it's similar to the trans person but in reality has its own characteristics, given by the own culture to which he/she belongs. There may be muxhes with masculine clothing and muxhes with feminine clothing, but their construction is always from the feminine. The term comes from the 16th century, from the Spanish language, and is a derivation of the word "woman". (source:  https://latinta.com.ar/2016/08/identidad-muxhe/ ) Muxhe is a cultural concept. A muxhe can consider himself/herself trans or transvestite. But it doesn't have to be. Isn't the fact that the "correct term" to DEFINE a biologically male person who feels that it's identity is female a "transsexual" is not trying to put again "rules" on gender? Is it not - once again - an attempt to set standards for who w

transvestite - travesti

Imagen
ENG. A person or an avatar who sometimes wears clothes traditionally worn by and associated with the opposite sex. Transvestite should also not be confused with transgender. Transvestite should also not be confused with drag queen or drag king: those are for performers. But... that's all? ESP. If the dress or the corse are "women clothes"... is this the image of a transvestite? 1.
